My approach continues to reflect my personal character and style, which is eclectic and prone to experimentation through a journey of personal discovery, and of painting, and ceramics. This is also underpins by my constant quest for knowledge through general reading, focused research, visits to galleries, fairs and practitioners.
Constant contact with all forms of contemporary art will often lead me to what I playfully call happy accidents, initiated by my own “Artistic God” who when he as a mind too, sits on my shoulder directing me to a new source of inspiration. A recent example is a statement of an American potter, Robert Turner, who described his method of making thus
Absorption in the process of making brings things together for me, from thoughts, memories, readings jumbled in the intuitive.
This simple quote perfectly sums up my personal approach to making whether in painting or clay forms the foundation of my professional practice.
I am also, particularly influenced by the music of Keith Jarrett and Miles Davis. Enabling my creative conscious to converse with mind and body, to inform my work placing the concept and material on a very intimate level completing a circle of inspiration in which the material and myself are inside and outside of the process in complete harmony with the mutual intention of creating a physical presence from an imagined concept.
My work encompasses a wide range of formats from oils to drawing, traditional to contemporary, painting to ceramic, past and present preoccupations with subject matter and material. I am available for private or commercial commissions.
