My wide range of experiences in life have enabled me to appreciate where I am now, having moved to Hornsby in Cumbria in September 2006 to enjoy the rural tranquillity.
I find that I am spurred on by the ever changing nature of the countryside and do not miss any thing about my previous professional life as a Civil Engineer.
I retired in 2003 following a motorcycle accident which left me paralysed and wheelchair
bound. It turned a page in my life and encouraged by my partner Carol I started painting. It was a fantastic release for me, being something I took to straight away achieving sales and recognition at a very early stage. After exhibiting with the "International Guild of Artists" at Ilkley I was elected to be an associate member of the British Society of Painters in 2005. I have sold paintings at many group exhibitions but by far the greatest success is at joint exhibitions entitled "His and Hers" held with my partner Carol Brook both here and in Spain. One of my specialities is portraiture and I have undertaken numerous commissions.
My style has gravitated towards a preference for sensual figurative paintings mainly in Oil but I do also enjoy working with Pastels and Charcoal.
As a self taught artist I have learnt by studying life and trying to mimic the methods of great artists both past and present. I feel humbled by my efforts so far but I hope that my paintings provide others with as much pleasure as I have had in their conception. I shall continue whilst ever I feel inspired to paint, learning and improving along the way.
If you are interested in any of my paintings or would like to discuss a portrait commission please email me at the address below and I will contact you as soon as I can.
