I trained at Goldsmiths School of Art, and following a successful career in lecturing have been freelance since 1997 My work is about the exploration of surface and mark making. The surface of the fabric that I stitch onto is manipulated and changed by the techniques I employ, and the surface of the land provides me with visual stimuli that I seek not to emulate, but to investigate. I am principally concerned with the way in which land is affected by changes wrought by climate, indelible marks and forms left by the erosion of water. I have exhibited widely in the UK, USA, France and Portugal and have taught in USA, New Zealand and the UK. My work has been commissioned and collected by public and corporate clients including GlaxoSmithKline, and hospital trusts in Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Essex. It is represented in numerous private collections worldwide. Recent exhibitions include SOFA in Santa Fe and Chicago, the New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham, and the Mall Galleries, London. I welcome commissions and work can be viewed at my studio in Chichester. I am also represented by galleries including Primavera, Cambridge. I am a Fellow of the Society of Designer Craftmen and was chairman from 2006-2010.
